My daughter was sitting with her eyes fixed on her screen. Her forehead was scrunched up in fierce determination.
She was building.
She is like her Daddy.
No she wasn’t writing code (although one day soon I am sure she will). She was creating her perfect world….in Minecraft.
I said her name. She ignored. I said it a little louder. She still ignored. I think by the 4th time she responded with “WHAT??!!! Why are you yelling??!!”
So, that’s really where God and I have been for about a week or so now. I have heard these whispers and felt nudges from Him but it wasn’t until today that I finally said “OKAY!!! I hear you!!!”
I have been in some uncomfortable situations at different times in my life. I think we have all been there at some point.
You may feel excluded from a social group.
You may feel as if your voice doesn’t need to be heard.
You may feel like your opinion is not valued or welcomed.
You may feel you are being replaced at your job.
I think it’s human nature to feel like we are being “pushed away” during these times but here is what I can’t get out of my head.
What if we are not being pushed away at all?
Maybe it’s just our perception.
Think of it instead as a pull from God….like a magnet. He is drawing us to a new place. A new road. A new moment in time. To Him.
As I look back on some hurt filled moments in my life, it’s interesting where that painful time led me.
I see beautiful souls, once strangers, that are now my tribe.
I see that solitude caused me to reflect and thus be intentional.
I see where doors to work outside the home kept closing because God knew our family well and knew the plans He had for us.
Hope was in the plan.
Life was in the plan.
Healing was in the plan. I see that now.
But let me tell you about the days I felt pushed away. It doesn’t feel good. It’s easy to feel worthless. You can downward spiral if you give in to negative thoughts.
So how we get through from day to day in the meantime?
Let Him draw you to Him.
Let Him pull you to His side and then match your pace with His.
Talk to Him. Hear Him speak life over you.
Sometimes it’s as simple as taking a walk. Putting in earbuds and letting the words of a song melt away your fears and doubts.
For me, some days all I could muster was to read a page of Jesus Calling. Listen to His voice.
One of my favorite verses that continue to build my weakened faith…
“I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers!”
But I want you to believe this…you are here for a purpose that only YOU have. No one else. That’s how much God loves you. You may be in a moment of stillness. You may have just been shaken to your core.
If your days are uncomfortable, be assured that you are not being pushed away. You are being pulled to the place you were meant to be all along. Trust the process. God has your best interest at heart. ❤️
